Allu Aravind Gets Relief From National Flag Insulting Case

In a relief to film producer Allu Aravind, the High Court on Thursday set aside the criminal case registered against him at the Jubilee Hills police station in the city for hoisting the national flag upside down on August 15, 2010, an offense under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.

Following a private complaint filed by All India Forward Black Party’s state convenor Murali Deshpande, a local court directed cops to register a case. Senior counsel P Gangaiah Naidu appeared for the film producer and told the court that the provisions of the National Flag Act are invoked only when someone insults the national flag intentionally.
