Google Launches Smart Reply Feature For Android Messages App, But Only For Project Fi Users
The tech giant Google has recently announced the Smart Reply Feature to the messaging app Android Messages app. The Google Allo rolled out the feature back in September 2016 and currently, this is being available only for Project Fi users with no timeline on a wider rollout. Well, the Smart Reply feature needs access to the user’s SMS history and all the other personal data to generate and improvise smart replies.
This is one of the Google Allo’s biggest features which was announced officially by Project Fi account on Twitter. “Messaging on the go? Smart Reply for Android Messages lets you text with a tap, rolling out starting today on Project Fi,” tweeted Project Fi on its Twitter account.
The smart feature will automatically suggest intelligent replies to messages that the user receives to their inbox. It will analyse the texts and quickly showcases some contextual responses in the messaging app. The feature was spotted in Allo, Android Messages, Hangouts as well Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Messenger Lite, WhatsApp and Tencent’s social media platforms. To note, the feature also works on Snapchat but to a limited extent.
It is not yet known if the company will store the chat history and data as it does in the other apps. This is yet to be confirmed by the company. But, it is known that Google provides great encryption on the chat histories and data.
Users can turn on or off this feature in the settings of Android Messages app.
